We promote the use of herbs with renowned medicinal properties. Natural Dyes are the colors extracted from plants, insects & minerals. Many of the Natural Dyes are medicines itself as they are extracted from herbs, which have endless list of therapeutic benefits. On the contrary, chemically created colors are terrible poisons. Natural Dyes along with Natural Fabrics are very good for skin. They do a tremendous job of improving human body's Aura. Lastly they are eco-friendly. In simple words to explain the beneficial aspects of these Natural Dyes in comparison to any of the synthetic dyes, as it is a universal truth that every dyed garment has its rubbing fastness irrespective of its origin, when a human body sweats due to heat or other factors, the Natural Dyes (most of them have medicinal properties) helps in removing the toxic effect of the human body sweat. Whereas these synthetic dyes which (most of them) themselves are very toxic in nature increases the toxicity of the sweat manifold, which results in various kinds of allergies.
According to Prof. Deepti Gupta, Department of Textile Technology, IIT Delhi “There is increasing interest in adding value to textiles by the use of natural products. Many of the plants from which Natural Dyes are obtained are also known to have medicinal properties in the current study. The antimicrobial properties of eleven natural dyes against three Types of gram-negative bacteria were studied experimentally. Seven of the dyes showed activity against one or more of the Bacteria. The minimum inhibitory concentration for three selected dyes was determined. The results demonstrate that certain dyes are able to reduce microbial growth almost completely in the case of Escherichia coli and proteus vaulgaris for the dyeing of sheets and gowns for hospital use and on articles which are less suitable for laundering such as mattresses and upholstery. The dyes examined exhibited good wash fastness and the antibacterial effect is therefore likely to be durable.
